The American Literature CLEP test is for all of you who like to read – you’ve probably already covered a few of the books on the reading list to pass this test. This test requires you to read passages, stories or poems and answer questions about them. This guide will give you detailed examples and exercises to test your analysis skills and think deeper about the material. The American Literature CLEP test covers fiction and poetry written in the U.S. You will be tested on knowing who has written various works and the time periods surrounding those works. You will analyze pieces of writing and use the vocabulary to do so intellectually. The American Literature CLEP test covers the same content as a 2 semester course at the university level.
